Summer Learning Journey/Week 5 :Do Something New, New Zealand!

Hello everyone, it's me Finau and today I will be doing an activity for the SLJ. This one is about and called "Do Something New, New Zealand!". I was really happy about this activity because I saw this commercial on TV. I always sing it, haha! I wrote a deception on the map about the place (or landmark) I chose but if it's not there then you can read it down below. I hope you have enjoy this post. Please leave a positive comment on my blog. Bye!

(Map Description, L&P) This activity was for the SLJ. We had to use maps to look for things that kiwis (the people) in NZ do. I chose the Giant L&P bottle. This seems like an amazing landmark in New Zealand that I hope to visit one day. I think it looks really cool because of how massive and big it is! I also chose it because L&P is a nice soda drink that everyone loves.

  1. Tēnā koe Finau, this is Elle from the Summer Learning Journey.

Ka pai! Well done for completing and sharing the Do Something New, New Zealand activity! I thought this was such a great activity, because even though it’s not safe to travel the world at the moment, it would be so much fun to explore our national treasures, and give our local businesses support at the same time! I also have the song stuck in my head - it’s so catchy!

I think you chose a great place to try something new! I have been to the giant L&P bottle before, and it is fascinating. I love drinking L&P, but I can’t imagine finishing a bottle as big as that one - it would take me weeks! I hope you get to visit it too, one day.

There are also lots of other neat things to do in Paeroa, have you had a look? One place I would like to visit that I haven’t already is the Bullswool Heritage Farm. They have lots of cute animals to pat and feed, like alpacas and ducklings!

Keep up the great blogging Finau, it’s been so wonderful to read all of your activities this summer!

    Ngā mihi,
    Elle (SLJ)

    1. Hello Elle!

Thank you so much for commenting on my blog. Thanks for the positive feedback. Yes, I do think it pretty cool that we get to learn about different places and landmarks in New Zealand, even though we can't it's still enjoyable. I just love the song and how catchy it is. I kept on singing it and my siblings were kind of annoyed cause I kept singing it very loud! Well, it's what they think. Hehe! :3

Thanks for thinking the place I chose was a great place (and idea). Wow! You are so lucky that you went there. I wish I could. I know right, it would take weeks but it would taste so good! (until you get a stomach ache).

No I haven't looked at the other things in Paeroa but I think that the farm you're talking about is pretty cute (cause of the animals).

I'm happy that you enjoyed reading my posts.

      Thanks again Elle.

    2. Mōrena Finau, you are most welcome and thank you for your reply! It is wonderful to hear from you.

It is a very catchy song! I would sing it at the top of my lungs if I knew all of the lyrics off by heart. I think it was a very clever way to show off all of New Zealand’s most special places and activities! It’s great that you sang along, even though your siblings seemed a little irritated! I’m sure they were just in awe of your singing voice! :)

You are most welcome, thank you for sharing your great idea! You’ll have to share a photo to your blog if you ever visit it one day! I wish I had gotten a photo, I think I got too wrapped up in the moment. I have had a photo taken next to the giant kiwifruit though, when I was 13! That feels like such a long time ago now… Yes, it would definitely give you a bellyache to drink that much L&P at once!

Bullswool Heritage Farm is a very cute place! What is your favourite farm animal? I think mine is a piglet, because they’re so tiny and make these funny grunting noises to communicate with the other piglets!

Well done Finau, I hope you have a great day, and keep up the great work! :)

    3. Hey Elle!

Thanks Elle for letting me know and for the reply. My favourite farm animals are horses and pigs as well but small ones. One time a big big chased me across my backyard in Tonga. My brother threw a rock at it and it thought it was me. :(

      Thanks again Elle.

    4. Kia ora Finau! You are most welcome.

Horses and small piggies are so cool, I agree! That is so scary, I am very glad that you're safe! I have never been chased by a pig before, but I have been chased by a chicken and that was already very intimidating, so I can't imagine how scared you must have been! I got chased by the chicken because I got too close to her babies, so now I'm very careful to keep my distance!

When was the last time you went back to Tonga? I would love to travel there one day - it is a very beautiful place!

  2. Hello everyone!

I think for this activity you had to do more than 1 location. I didn't know that do my bad. :( That's all from me.

    2. Kia ora Finau,

That is okay, the most important thing is that you gave it a go! You are most welcome to edit your blog post if you would like to edit your map to have more locations!
