Summer Learning Journey/Week 2 :Hana Kōkō

Hi everyone, it's me Finau and this is my second activity for the SLJ Week 2. For this activity we had to read the story Hana Kōkō. It was about a Dad dressing up Santa Claus but in a way of his culture (hope that makes sense). We had to create our own and I created mine. I used an idea from the video, just one. I hope you enjoyed this blog post. Please leave a positive comment on my blog. Bye!

  4. Malo e lelei Finau,

My name is Zana and I am a blog commenter from the Summer Learning Journey.

I think your outfit is designed really well and I can tell you put a lot of thought and effort into the smaller details like the shell and the flower and the wave. I like that you designed the outfit in a way that expresses your cultural identity just like dad did in the story and I think you did a great job and your description about why you included each item gave me a better understanding of what everything represented and meant to you.

I think you did a really good job.

Keep up the great work and I hope to see more of your posts over the summer.

    Ngā mihi nui,
    Zana Yates

    1. Hey Zana!

Thank you for commenting on my blog. Yeah, I really wanted to make the design more detailed so people that are Tongan or known somethings about Tonga know what I'm designing and drawing. Thanks again Zana!

  6. Malo e lelei Finau. My name is Alamoni and I go to Ruapotaka school soon to be going to college, I love your Hana Koko and it's amazing designs. I to am a Tongan and I always wear a Ta Ovala to church and other Tongan events so if your design of a Ta Ovala was real I'd be wearing that to church all the time. Your T-shirt looks great and with that wave it gives it more life to it so well done, and the Jandals remind me of my own ones just one thing is different, mine is blue:(
if you could change your name for your design again what would it be?
Well time for me to go keep up the good work and bye!!!

    Sincerely by Alamoni.

    1. Hi Alamoni!

Thank you so much for commenting on my blog. This post is getting a whole lot of comments and that's why I'm so happy. So sorry for the late reply, my family and I have been so busy cause of Christmas. Anyways, it's true lot's of us Tongans wear that to church and different occasions. I'm happy that you like the kind of vibe with my t'shirt and sandals (or jandlas). Haha! I don't really know what I would change with my design but to make it more detailed? Thanks again Alamoni.
