Meeting a Beluga Whale

      

I’m a tourist on my journey looking for sea animals. By the way, my name is Finau. I hope they are not scary sea animals. I get on the boat with my family. They aren’t coming with me but that’s fine with me. I got my togs on, then my big wet suit on, then finally and important of all my goggles (that cover my eyes and nose) and my flippers. The flippers will help me swim like a mermaid and the goggles will help we see underwater and to breathe underwater. The wet suit is to keep me safe and warm. The togs are just my swim suit. Nothing else and now I’m ready.

I gave my family a big hug and goodbye before I went underwater. I was going with my friend Sesilia and my cousin Mele. Mele’s like an adult. I forgot to tell you but it’s good you know now. Plus I can’t go all by myself and Sesilia and Mele hugged their family too. Seslia and I and Mele. counted from 10. ‘’One 1 we will jump and dive’’ I said. Then Sesilia said “Yes!’’ and we were so ready. We counted from 10. Sesilia and I and Mele yelled out “10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 & 1. SPLASH!” and we both disappeared into the deep blue sea.

We were still under the water but close to the boat. We heard our siblings yell out “YES, they are gone” and our parents said “Oh, they are just so grown up now” and we were shocked by what they said. We swam really fast (due to the flippers) and we reached all the way down. Well only 10 feet.

I was so tired and I just wanted to relax around the water. I would expect the water to be warm because when we jumped in it was warm but when we get closer to the bottom it gets cold. We all shiver and try to shake it off. Sesilia and Mele said “Finau! Stop relaxing. We’re on a mission looking for the Beluga Whale” and then I just remember that’s what we were doing.

We swam deeper and deeper until the sea started to get a little darker. Did you know when you are at the top of the sea, it’s all light and clear but when you get to the bottom of the sea, it’s dark? We kept on swimming and searching until we heard this creature making strange bubbly noises.

We just tried to ignore it but Sesilia wanted to see it. She kept on saying “It’s a Beluga Whale” but we kept thinking she was crazy and silly. After a couple of minutes, we realized that she was gone to search for the creature. We got so annoyed because we told her it’s not.

We were swimming really fast to look for her. In minutes we found her. We gave her a mad look but she didn’t care. All she did and said was “Oh hey guys! I found the Beluga Whale” and man she still doesn’t understand or do we not understand? Mele and I kept asking her are you sure or are you being insane?

She pulled us over. Then we looked closely. It wasn’t a Beluga Whale. It was a Shark! Oh no! I just told well I mean we told Sesilia it wasn’t and she didn’t listen. This is what you get when you don’t listen to your friends. She said she was sorry. There was no time to say sorry, we had to run, well I mean swim. Fast. 

We held each other’s hands because we were so scared. At the same time we were crying (just a bit) and we were swimming so fast. Faster than the fastest swimmer in the world. We got to this other side of the sea. I don’t really know if there are any sides in the sea. When we stopped running, we were having a little break.

That’s when we apologized to each other and tried to be friends again. Just when we were doing it I heard the same strange bubbly noises again. I told Mele and Sesilia I think that I saw the creature again. We all tried to swim again but then we ended up getting hit from a big rock. We were surrounded by rocks. Big ones.

We didn’t know what to do. We all screamed in horror because I don't want to die. We all were young, well Mele on the other hand was an adult but a young one. We all cuddled up together and we all said sorry to each other. The creature started making happy noises and it sounded like a Beluga Whale.

We all looked up and rubbed our goggles. It was a Beluga Whale! We were so happy and glad that it was a Beluga Whale. We found out that our goggles were a bit dirty. We were so happy. We took some cool and insane photos with the Beluga Whale and the Whale all by it’s self.

We waved it goodbye and we hugged it. We swam all the way back to the top of the sea. We were too tired and exhausted. We finally reached the boat and we straight away fell asleep on the boat. That was a crazy day.
