Hello everyone, it;s me Finau and today I will be doing another activity for the SLJ. This is my second activity for this week. We are learning about Ultraviolet. I was really happy with the idea because last year I learnt about it in my extension class. For this activity we had to design a wearable UV light sensor and a UV sensor that you could put in your home. Here's a link to 1 and 2. I also did a video even though it said not to but I wanted to share my learning on video. I also did the kick start and step up. I hope you enjoy this blog post. Please leave a positive comment on my blog. Bye!
Mōrena Finau,
ReplyDeleteIt’s Charlotte here, a commenter for the Manaiakalani Summer Learning Journey. You have done some amazing work on the ‘Ultraviolet’ task!
I am very impressed with the work you have done on this activity and I think that it is awesome that you had previously done some work on UV before in the classroom! What did you find most interesting about the topic of UV?
The wearable devices that you created are awesome! I especially like the bee bracelet that you designed! How awesome! Are bees your favourite animal? If not, what is? I think that bees are fantastic because they help to keep the plant life in New Zealand alive!
I have been so impressed with your work on this activity that I have marked it down as an ‘outstanding post’ this means that you will be receiving extra points for this activity!
Keep up the awesome work!

Summer Learning Journey
Hey Charlotte!
DeleteThank you so much for commenting on my blog. I'm happy that you are impressed with the work I've done. I was so happy and excited when we got to learn about UV light. What I found interesting about UV is that in the rainbow the colour that has the highest energy is Violet and the lowest is red. I also thought it was cool that you could make a UV light sensor to see if it is sunny.
I'm also happy that you like my wearable device and the bee bracelet. I called it a watch but a bracelet is way better! Bees do really cool things but I'm not a fan of a real bee. I ran away from them. Hahaha! My favourite animal is a Flamingo (I even have bracelet of a flamingo).
Yay! I got extra points. That also made my day.
Thanks again Charlotte.

Kia Ora Finau,
DeleteI also think that the subject of UV light is very interesting and very cool! WOW, I didn't know that Violet had the highest energy out of all the colours in the rainbow.
My favourite animal is probably a dog, this is because I have my own dog! But I also think that flamingos are amazing - why are they your favourite animal?

Hey Charlotte!
DeleteThanks for replying back and sorry for the late reply. I've been busy. I like Flamingos because they have nice colours and they start with a F like me. Hehe! Thanks again Charlotte!
From Finau:)
Hi Finau, keep up the good work, well done.

Kia ora Finau, Your screencast was a good idea. Specifically as you were able to use your video to highlight and explain your past learning. Plus the links to your past posts are also helpful.
ReplyDeleteCombining your UV indicator as a hat is clever as it has a dual purpose, protection from the sun as well as the UV indicator.
Great to see you earned bonus points for this post, tino pai!

Hi Mrs Grant!
DeleteThanks for commenting on my blog. Sorry for the late reply, I've been busy. Thanks for liking my video and this idea. I am really happy with the ideas and activities that we are doing for the SLJ. Last year I only did one thing cause that was my first time.
Anyways I'm also happy that you think my hat UV indicator was a clever idea.
Yay! I get more points!
Thanks again Mrs Grant.
