Sundial (Nanogirl's experiment/ Holiday Blogging)

Hi everyone, it's me Finau and this is my third experiment for this week. This one was from Nanogirl and it's all about time. They would use it to tell the time in Egypt. I had to much fun making it. I hope you enjoy my sundial experiment. Please leave a positive comment on my blog. Bye!

  1. Hey Finau,
Awesome experiment. I like the way that you put a video on showing you doing it. I also like how you added lot's of photos showing you with the finishing product. Was this hard to do? How long did it take you to do it? Was it really fun? Anyway keep up the great work Finau. I can't wait to see more.

    1. Hi Angelica!

Thanks for commenting on my blog. I just love it when people leave me comments. Yeah it was really hard to do because I didn't know how to draw the circle and I couldn't stick up the triangle. It took like 10 minutes! Overall this was super fun to try out. Thanks again Angelica.

  3. Hi Finau,
What a great video, you showed great problem solving skills as you drew your circle and amazing science and engineering skills building and testing your sundial!
    I love ice cream time!

Renee from the Summer Learning Journey Team, here. Ka pai for your work on another fantastic blogpost! I can tell you have worked really hard on your sundial and the post is so thorough and engaging (as always) because you have included some awesome photos and a Screencastify of yourself explaining how you went about completing this activity.

Isn’t it crazy to think that there was a time when people didn’t have watches or phones or computers and instruments like sundials were the only way that humans could tell the time?!

I love ice-cream as well and watching your video made me hungry thinking about ice-cream! What is your favourite flavour? Mine is cookies and cream.

What have been your favourite Summer Learning Journey activities so far? You mentioned that this activity was hard, what about it did you find challenging?

Keep up the excellent mahi I can't wait to see your updated post and your other posts over the summer.

    1. Hello Renee!

Thanks for commenting on my blog. I so happy you love my blog post, effort, photos and videos. I just really happy that you think I work hard on my blog posts.

Yeah that was insane. I was shocked that they used Sundials. I didn't even knew it existed but now I do.

I LOVE ice cream too! My favourite ice cream flavour is also cookies and cream. I guess we are cookies and cream buddies? Haha!

Hmmmm, one of my favourite activities from the SLJ was Summer Tastes.

Yeah it was hard because there was a part when you have to stick blue tack in the middle of the cardboard. Then I had to get the string put it in the blue task and attach it to a pencil. Then I had to draw a circle. It was difficult.

      Thanks again Renee.

      From Finau:)
