Summer Learning Journey/Week 5 :Summer Symmetry
Hey everyone, it's me Finau and today I will be doing another activity for the SLJ. This activity is all about symmetry (& maths). We had to look for things around our house and make a symmetry. It was like finding two bows that are the same or two shoes that are the same. I did the kick start and the step up activities. I hope you have enjoy this post. Please leave a positive comment on my blog. Bye!

Kia ora Finau,
ReplyDeleteIt’s Shannon here from the Summer Learning Journey.
How awesome that you were able to find so many wonderful symmetrical objects. I really liked how you made the lines in the picture to show where they were symmetrical. I imagine it would have been quite difficult moving your chromebook around to get the pictures, so ka pai. Are any symmetrical on other planes?
I also really love the symmetrical object you made! You used so many different objects, how did you choose them all?
How did you find your symmetrical images? Can you think of any symmetrical objects in nature?
Have you tried using the mirror tool to make things absolutely and perfectly symmetrical?
Keep up the great blogging!
Ka kite anō,
Shannon (SLJ)
Hi Shannon!
DeleteThank you so much for commenting on my blog. I'm happy that you like my photos and symmetrical lines. Yes, it was hard moving my chromebook around but I use to do stuff like that. Sorry Shannon but I don't know what you really mean by that question?
I'm happy that you like the objects that I used. Well I knew that I had cool things to use that were the same like bracelets, bottles, nail polish, Christmas decorations and the first thing I thought about, scrunchies.
I looked around my bedroom and living room. I think you could use flowers, leaves and many other things in nature.
No I haven't but it sounds pretty cool. I don't now where to find it though.
Thanks again Shannon.

Hi Finau,
DeleteSorry I should have been clearer. When an item is symmetrical, the line with which you can fold it in half is called the plane. Are there any other places you could fold your items in half and they'd be symmetrical? For example on your uno card, you could also fold it across the middle horizontally!
A lot of camera's have a mirror setting that will copy everything on the left (or right) and make it symmetrical. Perhaps you could google it!
Bye for now,
Shannon (SLJ)

DeleteHey Shannon!
DeleteThanks for replying back. Now I understand! Haha! Ummmm there is my Uno Card but I don't know what else. I think I could fold the Christmas card and the scrunchies? I hope it does. I will also try to the mirror setting on my camera. Thanks again Shannon.
