Summer Learning Journey/Week 5 :Balancing Rocks

Kia ora everyone, it's me Finau and today I will be doing another activity for the SLJ. This activity is about and called Balancing Rocks. I really enjoyed this activity because it was cool to see how much rocks I could stack. It was challenging because the rocks kept on falling but I kept on going. I manged to stack 7. I hope you enjoyed this post. Please leave a positive comment on my blog. Bye!

  1. Kia ora Finau,

It’s Shannon here, from the Summer Learning Journey.

What an awesome job you have done with this blog post. You must be very co-ordinated to be able to balance stones because they don’t often have flat edges. The pictures look great and you have labelled them very well. I’m impressed by your improvement!

Did you think it would be easier building with stones compared to sticks? Have you given it a try?

I live near a beach that has lots of visitors and often when we go for a walk we see lots of stones balanced in piles. I had to check that they were just balanced and not glued together because they look so amazing.

Keep up the fantastic blogging and I look forward to coming back to view your videos.

    Ka kite anō,
    Shannon (SLJ)

    1. Hi Shannon!

Thanks for commenting on my blog. I'm happy that you think my post is awesome , the way I stacked the stones and how your impressed by my improvement. Thanks!

Yes I do think it would be easier if I used sticks (if that's what you meant).

Oh my, you live near those places were stones are piled, while you just told me that so that means yes! That must be beautiful to see. Wait do you mean like stones balanced in the water? Cause it that's true then that's amazing.

      Thanks again Shannon.

      From Finau:)

    2. Hi Finau,

I'm not sure, I feel like if a stick is in a Y shape, they might be easier to stack higher, but again I think it would require a bit of trial and error!

I'm from Hokitika and we have a driftwood competition each year where you can use driftwood and stones to build statues or make art so I was curious as to your opinion on the matter.

Some of the stones are balanced in the water, others are balanced on solid ground.

      Bye for now,
      Shannon (SLJ)
